A date with yourself: choose a plan you actually want
You do not have to fill a free evening with whatever is left on your to-do list. If you want to plan a date with yourself, start with a simple question: what do I feel like doing today? It need not involve wellness, a romantic dinner or anything worth photographing.
Choose the kind of evening you want
Think about whether you want to stay home or go out, be around people or alone, move about or sit down. Then choose one activity: a film at the cinema, a bookshop, an exhibition or dinner made with what you have at home.
These are options, not obligations. If none appeals, you do not have to make yourself go on a date. A free evening can stay unnamed and unplanned.
Set a budget that suits you
Before booking anything, decide how much you want to spend. Zero euros is an option. Your own music, a library book or a walk somewhere familiar can give you something to do without buying anything.
If you want to go to the cinema or out for dinner, check the venue's current prices and terms. Do not let “treat yourself” decide your budget for you. You can want something nice and still decide you do not want to pay for it today.
Prepare only what the plan needs
For dinner at home, you might choose food and clear a place at the table. For the cinema, check the screening time and your way home. For a walk, choose a place and time that work for you. You do not need to prepare your whole home for a special occasion.
If you tend to plan ten activities, mark one as the main event and leave the others optional. For example: “I want to watch a film. Tea and a nice outfit can be part of the evening, but they do not have to be.”
You do not have to make content
Take a photo of a detail if you want to, or leave your phone in your bag. This evening does not have to prove that you can be alone, that you are happy or that your life is interesting.
You can leave early, change your plans or call someone. The plan is not a test of independence. You chose it, and you can adjust it.
Keep one note for next time
Afterwards, you could write just one sentence: “I would like to do this again” or “Next time I would rather…” You do not have to turn it into an analysis of your life. Simply notice what you prefer.
